Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Santorini

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride Santorini

The annual world event of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is held by Santorini – along with eight other cities of the country – for the fourth consecutive year on Sunday, September 29, 2019.

It is a global one-day vintage motorcycle procession to raise awareness and money for prostate cancer and men’s health.

The starting and ending point of this year’s route in Santorini will be the Tomato Industrial Museum, D.Nomikos in Vlyhada, while the procession will pass through many areas of the island (Vlyhada – Pyrgos – Kamari – Fira – Megalochori – Perissa – Perivolo and finish again in Vlychada). Official clothing, vintage motorcycle or moped and helmet are required to participate in the procession!

After the finish (around 14:00) there will be an event in the premises of the Tomato Industrial Museum with food, music from the band The Singles and activities for children. At the same time, the urologist surgeon Mr. Andreas Vlachos will give a short briefing on prostate health issues, while the pediatrician Mrs. Popi Karamolegou will inform about the voluntary donation of bone marrow.

Both during the event on Sunday and the day before (Saturday 9/28 from 14:00 to 18:00) the Barber Shop in Fira will also be donating the proceeds from those who get a haircut or shave in support of the DGR cause.

The institution started in 2010 in Australia and has today evolved into a global event which takes place simultaneously in approximately 600 cities and in 90 countries. We only mention New York, London, Milan, Sydney, Hawaii, Amsterdam and many other small and large cities as examples.

There is no cost to join. The money is raised only through www.gentlemansride.com and in the following ways: as a donation directly to the international organization or as a sponsorship to each individual rider.

In Santorini, the event started for the first time in 2016 with 30 riders from different parts of Greece and abroad.
Santorini has so far collected the most revenue compared to other Greek cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Patras, Ancient Olympia, etc.)
The event is held legally with the permission of the Municipality of Thira and the escort of the police. The procession is also accompanied by a doctor just in case.

Register in time at www.gentlemansride.com after checking the conditions and let’s go…
