Yasemi is a vocal quarter that experiments with the sounds of traditional music, and the techniques of polyphony. Singers and organ-players will transfer their experience from traditional musical instruments, to their voices. Their repertoire consists of traditional melodies produced for a multitude of voices, as well as newer songs that follow the tonality of Eastern music. Combining traditional melodies with modern harmony, Yasemi focuses on the vocal traditions of Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean, exploring the multi-faceted role of the void in a rich musical traditional.
