Contemporary Dance Performance
“DELOSΗ”
YANNIS ADONIOU / KUNST STOFF PRODUCTIONS
“A journey between myth and contemporary experience”
An original in situ contemporary dance performance by acclaimed choreographer Yannis Adoniou and the KUNST STOFF productions team, at the Industrial Tomato Museum “D. Nomikos”, on Sunday, September 7 at 20:30. Free entrance.
The work was created following an invitation from the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades for a contemporary performance on the sacred island of Delos. It is under the support and auspices of the Ministry of Culture. It has already been presented in Ancient Olympia, Delos, Athens and will travel to the Gris Festival in Berlin.
What connects the divine with the human?
The ephemeral with the eternal?
The place with its name?
Delos: the invisible island that drifted in the Aegean and was anchored – declared – by Poseidon under the command of Zeus, so that Artemis and Apollo could be born there. From this symbolic starting point, the work “Delosη” embarks on a journey between myth and contemporary experience, where corporeality, poetry, sound and live music become the means of expression for a shared ritual.
Five performers with strong stage presence explore the collective and personal imprint of memory, in an open dialogue with space and the past. A performance of catharsis and reflection, where the body becomes witness of the present and carrier of a timeless myth.
