The Tomato Industrial Museum “D.Nomikos” reopens to the public

The Tomato Industrial Museum “D.Nomikos” is pleased to announce the opening for 2026 on Holy Tuesday, April 7, welcoming visitors to a new period of memorable experiences.

Located in the distinctive landscape of Vlychada, the museum occupies a historic site that once operated as a processing factory for Santorini’s cherry tomatoes from 1945 to 1981. In 2014, the facility was thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary museum and a vibrant cultural hub, rooted in the island’s agricultural heritage.

Today, history, art, and technology come together in a space where Santorini’s industrial past is brought to life, highlighting the significance of tomato in both local tradition and global gastronomy and economy.

Visitors are invited to explore the fascinating journey of the Santorini Tomato—from cultivation to processing and the production of tomato paste—while gaining insight into the island’s rich industrial heritage.

Through a combination of thematic exhibitions, interactive installations, and educational programs, the museum offers a creative approach to local cultural identity, establishing itself as a dynamic cultural destination for both residents and visitors.

This year’s program is further enhanced with live guided tours led by the museum’s team, scheduled regularly throughout the day. In addition, the “Tomato Cooking” sessions take on a more distinctly local character, highlighting the role of tomatoes in Santorini’s traditional recipes. These sessions are available daily upon reservation.

Sundays are now dedicated to families, with specially designed activities for both children and adults—offering a meaningful way to spend quality time together in an environment that combines learning, creativity, and relaxation.

Online ticketing is available for all museum activities. For further information, please contact us using the details below.
