European Heritage Days 2025

Architectural Tours with Free Admission & Digital Highlights at the Old Tomato Processing Factory

The Tomato Industrial Museum “D. Nomikos” celebrates European Heritage Days 2025 with free architectural tours of the museum site throughout the three-day event.

The tours focus on the distinctive architectural character of the complex and highlight:
– the historical development of the buildings,
– the use of local construction materials,
– the operation of the iconic chimney, a notable example of industrial architecture,
– and the unveiling of the cistern, a hidden feature of the site’s water management system.

The tours will explore:
• the use of local building materials
• the construction of the characteristic chimney
• the underground water management system
• the overall layout of the industrial complex

This initiative aims to reveal the architectural identity of the site and its deep connection with the needs, techniques, and everyday life of the local community.

At the same time, short social media posts will highlight aspects of the site’s traditional architecture:
Friday 26/9: First-ever presentation of one of the factory’s two underground cisterns
Saturday 27/9: The iconic Vlychada chimney and the secrets of its construction
Sunday 28/9: The building complex and its link to local materials

Through these digital features, visitors will gain new interpretive insights into the Cycladic architectural identity, helping to preserve and promote cultural memory.
