International Museum Day 2025: Free Admission to the Tomato International Museum “D.Nomikos”

International Museum Day 2025:
Free Admission to the “D. Nomikos” Tomato Industrial Museum

The “D. Nomikos” Tomato Industrial Museum is celebrating International Museum Day on Sunday, May 18, 2025, by offering free admission to the public throughout the day. Visitors of all ages are invited to explore the history of tomato processing in Santorini and its contribution to the island’s economy and society.

This year’s ICOM theme for International Museum Day, “Museums and Society in Transition,” invites us to envision new ways to preserve and deepen our cultural identity, while reinforcing the role of museums as vital social pillars of development. As the only museum of its kind in Greece, the Tomato Museum offers an immersive experience into the evolution of tomato processing, the working conditions of the early 20th century, and the preservation of the island’s cultural heritage.

During the visit, guests will have the opportunity to:

  • Tour the original facilities of the former factory
  • Discover interactive exhibits through augmented and virtual reality applications (DEAR Museum Project)
  • View machinery and artifacts related to tomato paste production
  • Watch historical documentaries and oral testimonies from former workers
  • Taste tomato paste
  • Seal their own can using the original vintage canning machine

Opening Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Vlychada, Santorini

We look forward to celebrating together the power of memory, knowledge, and local heritage!
